GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

QUALIFICATIONS:
- · 3-5 years as Golf Course Superintendent.
- · 2-year Degree or Certificate in Turf Management (or related field).
- · Satisfactory computer skills required for financial reporting, budgeting, control of operations, payroll records, etc.
- · Thorough knowledge of operation and maintenance of equipment (heavy) and machinery/tools used in maintenance of golf course and course improvement projects.
- · Knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products.
- · Skills in supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating personnel.
- · Interpersonal skills to communicate with employees, Golf Professional, Board members, Club members and the general public.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- · Turf Management - greens, aprons, tee boxes, fairways and rough; oversight of mowing practices.
- · Evaluate current staff, recruit, hire, supervise, and mentor employees to create a cohesive and efficient unit that will effectively carry out its duties and responsibilities.
- · Evaluate, recommend, and supervise the purchase, lease, use, and maintenance of golf course equipment.
- · Direct and assist staff on the removal, replacement, pruning and trimming of trees, shrubs and flowers.
- · Coordinate snow removal and winter maintenance activities.
- · Irrigation system separation and maintenance.
- · TCC Board Interaction, setting of TCC Course policies.
- · Order, inventory, apply, and maintain all seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other chemical applications in accordance with all applicable Federal and New York State laws.
- · Coordinate with the TCC Board on preparing a plan and budget for staff, golf course operations, and course improvement projects.
- · Maintain a safe, clean, secure, and operationally functional maintenance building.
- · Budget creation and oversight.
- · Work with TCC greens committee, contractors, and designers on oversight and organization of course improvement projects.
- · Overall interaction with TCC Board, Officers and Golf Professional on golf course operation policies, scheduling of events, and related matters.
