Turf Equipment Mechanic
Summary: The Cavalry Club, a private and prestigious Wilson and Lee designed Country Club seeking a responsible individual for ensuring that all equipment is maintained in good operating order to maintain our excellent playing conditions. Schedules and maintains records involving all preventative maintenance programs. Accountable for ordering parts and maintaining appropriate parts inventory while operating within a budget. The Mechanic will perform major and minor mechanical repairs on a variety of diesel and gasoline powered equipment.
Job Description:
· Under the supervision of the Superintendent and Assistant, performs both preventative and diagnostic care of gasoline and diesel powered equipment while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. Responsible for ensuring that all equipment is maintained in good operating order and ready for use when needed.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
· 1-3 years Mechanic experience
· Knowledge of small engine repair
· Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
· Ability to inspect equipment and related components
· Must be highly motivated, goal driven and self-starter
· Must have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions
· Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs all equipment failures
· Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment, including adjusting all mowers after daily use
· Keeps records of all equipment, maintenance, parts, and shop upkeep
· Occasionally operates mowers when work load is slow
· Performs grinding and sharpening of all reel and rotary mowers as needed
· Incorporates safe work practices in job performance
· One weekend day required during golf season
Education/Licenses:
Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school preferred but not necessary with acceptable job experience; training with golf course specific reel mowers will be provided to the qualified applicant. Depending on start time there will also be a shadowing period with our previous mechanic.
Physical Demands:
· ability to lift over fifty pounds regularly and up to 100 occasionally
· ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all conditions
· must be able to work in all positions including standing and bending over for long periods of time
· ability to handle loud noise, frequent vibration, and general discomfort
